The DWM3001C1 is about 19x27mm and takes quite a lot of space on the PCB.
Maybe a smaller replacement like this ( https://www.murata.com/en-eu/products/connectivitymodule/ultra-wide-band/qorvo ) can be used? It's only 10.5x8.3mm -
The nrf9160 and the UWB modules should sit in a line, next to each other so the height of the PCB is limited to just over 10mm. It can be longer but not higher. So the collar won't be too high for small cats.
-
The PCB should be flexible PCB with a hight of about 10mm. The plastic should be more like a quarter circle, attached to the collar, so it look more like a natural collar. Not a bulky block attached to the collar.. The flexible PCB should then fit inside the plastic casing.
-
Antenna should be inside the collar too. Battery too. Both can be made/ordered in custom shapes and should be built more or less like a quarter circle too. Attached to the collar.
-
We will have to build the whole collar from scratch and make it a completely integrated collar/device.
-
All passives should be the smallest size possible
-
No connectors but solder pads for antenna's?
-
SWD programming pads could be much smaller
I wonder if there is anyone already working on a smaller version? The whole idea is very very nice! But it's just too big for any cat (except some big breads like a main coon or something. But those big cats usually live inside, not outside at all...)
