Thanks! The TUI snap is a different (but related) project. The -plars one looks even more out-of-date. But if you're willing to trust simpoir, the third seems like the right thing. Regarding getting an update into Ubuntu, there's some discussion in #3769. Basically, it's not in our control, but any help you can provide in convincing Ubuntu maintainers to update would be appreciated! |

Hi,
oneline intro: using TW since 2020-07-02 09:24:37.
As an Ubuntu user I have some options to use TW. The repo package at 2.6.2, or (the horror) a snap package where I have multiple options:
$ snap search taskwarrior
Name Version Publisher Notes Summary
taskwarrior-tui 0+git.319de81 kdheepak - A terminal user interface for taskwarrior
taskwarrior-plars 2.5.1-1 pwlars - feature-rich console based todo list manager
simpoir-taskwarrior3 3.4.1 simpoir - Command line task list management
At the same time, progress in the package department seemd to be, er... focussed on very, very stable :-).
Getting a bit desparate I compiled 3.4.1 from source, placed it in /usr/local/bin and installed the new on-prem sync server (that compiled flawlessly on Risc-V btw).
Coming April there will be a new Ubuntu LTS release. I think it would be nice if V3 was available as a package.
Maybe I'm impatient and the migration to V3 is already scheduled for somewhere in the distant future, but I was just wondering what needs to be done to get the distribution packages updated? Or maybe define a project for package building, maybe including CI/CD actions for autobuild packages?
Really interested in replies (and how I can chip in if needed).
