hl2.sh Segfault when starting up the default mod_tf [LINUX]

Every time I launch the mod_tf_linux64 executable I get this error: hl2.sh: line 1113: 40686 Segmentation fault

I followed all the instructions to make a mod, why is it crashing?

Hi, not sure if this is the right place, but I've found some info on the matter after running into the issue myself? I tried (after getting the segfault error several times) running hl2_linux64 with gdb and it said it was missing something called libmalloc.so

In other words, for some reason there's a missing library. Issue being that libmalloc (as far as i've looked into the matter, if i'm wrong do feel free to correct me) is something needed on Mac/OSX systems, so I have no real idea why it's needed.

On my end, I'm running Linux Mint 22.2, i can only assume the original author is on the same distro in case this information helps.

EDIT: I misread, so sorry, it says it's missing libmimalloc, not libmalloc

FIXED IT!
It's a local system error, likely because of an older GPU (like in my case), not an SDK problem, so that's that concern removed

On my end, it failed to run because:

• libmimalloc-dev wasn't installed
• the sdk needed to run on -gl mode, not vulkan
  @blockplace1232 , try these, if they don't fix the problem, use GDB with the executable in the SDK App (the one on steam, named hl2_linux64) to pinpoint what the issue is

I just looked up what gdb is but have no idea what it does and nothing is mentioned when starting it

You can install mimalloc using the mimalloc package on pacman.

GDB is a debugger, they used it to figure out what was causing the segmentation fault in the game.
