Project appears unmaintained — consider redirecting users to github.com/bojanz/address

Hi! Thanks for the work on this library, it’s been useful.

I recently reviewed the repo and found a backlog of open PRs and no recent activity. The big gap is correct UK post code validations. For new work, we’re migrating to github.com/bojanz/address (actively maintained, country-aware regex map, address formats, regions, based on Unicode CLDR and Google's libaddressinput, etc.).

Would you consider:

• marking this repo as unmaintained (if that’s the case), and
• adding a short note in the README pointing users to github.com/bojanz/address as a maintained alternative?

I'm glad you found the library useful. I haven't been accepting PRs because the package needs a rewrite in order for the postal code validation to be more accurate.

Thing is, it's not sufficient to look at the layout of the codes. Some regions have strict rules like codes starting with specific digits/letters which can in turn be followed by specific other sequences of letters/digits.

Each region (probably country) would need to have a validation function which would parse the code based on a list of formats but also other rules which may be relevant. This should still be faster than doing it via regular expressions.

In any case, that's the reason for not accepting PRs. I just haven't decided what to do with it yet.

Yeah, that's valid. The main issue is to still redirect or warn users to use a well maintained library that has those validations already - in terms of SEO (and AI-engines), searching for "Go post code validation" shows this package - and even with a version tag like 0.1.0, users may deploy your library to production services, not knowing that it doesn't validate correctly all codes. Just my two cents.
