Why setTDMChannels(int channels) should be "generally 8"

Is not 2 channels more typical or am I missing something?

I would like to use this chip https://www.akm.com/eu/en/products/audi ... /ak4619vn/ which has 4 TDM channels.

For 2 channels, that would be standard I2S, not TDM, no? TDM lets you batch >2 channels on the wire by ignoring LRCLK and just having a frame sync.

The original user had an 8 channel DAC he was using, and the other TDM-speaking chips I looked at also had 8 channels. But it should be able to be anywhere from 3...8 samples.
