Negative letter-spacing doesn't work

Hello everyone,

i'm using Gotenberg to produce some small PDF from twig templates. I have a case i cannot understand it and i wonder if someone could have an explanation.
I want to decrease the letter-spacing a little bit so i used letter-spacing: -0.3pt; on main {} in my css.
It goes like this :

i'm also rendering the template independantly to see if my error is from bad css only but it's not.

Is there some issue with Gotenberg on the letter spacing ? Where does the problem come from ?

PS: I found a workaround with a 90% scaleX but it's not as good as the letter spacing

It might be related to your font. Are you using a custom font?

Yes, i'm using a custom font but i'm also rendering the template on standalone and the letter-spacing works with the custom font.
Is there a difference in the custom font loading ?

i tested with default font, i have the same issue but with a larger value of letter spacing letter-spacing: -1pt

I'm already launching Chromium with --font-render-hinting=none, which is a common solution regarding font consistency 🤔

Some people are suggesting this CSS property to further increase this consistency:

text-rendering: geometricprecision !important;

i've tried the solution but i still have the same issue. Fortunately, the scaleX does the trick.

I didnt succeed launch chromium with the flag --font-render, always add an error "404, unknown custom flag".
version: Gotenberg 8 on docker.
With the text-rendering css property, i didnt see any changes.

Maybe the pdf doesnt like negative value on letter spacing ? or like you said, it might be the font too.

I'm a beginner with Gotenberg, i still trying to understand how it works properly
