Bad performance when route path gets plotted (iOS/Safari)

Like in this video shown, as soon as a route path gets plotted to the map, the performance of the openlayers component gets really bad. This is also the case on really short distances (~1km)

I tested it locally (both: this branch and master)
The performace is the same - bad when a route path is displayed
