ESM module

This package unfortunately doesn't work very well with ESM based tooling like esno or tsx. Would be great if it could be updated such. I tried to dig into it a bit but couldn't determine where the issue was, it might be related to the native node module that is being generated, so it might be outside the scope of this library specifically.

Would you be able to create a demo repo with the tooling setup (and not working due to this issue)? I haven't used the ESM loading features in node.js yet, or tooling other than plain typescript/tsc and ts-node.
