Cannot overlay Compose elements on top of WebView (even with compose.swing.render.on.graphics/interop.blending)

Cannot overlay Compose elements above the WebView, even with:

• System.setProperty("compose.swing.render.on.graphics", "true")
• System.setProperty("compose.interop.blending", "true")

Repro: enable the flags, place a Box/overlay above WryWebView, run ./gradlew :demo:run.

Expected: overlay is visible.
Actual: WebView always stays on top.

Off-Screen rendering is probably required here.

@mtpdog Yes, I completely agree. That’s exactly what I did in Compose Media Player, but it’s going to be a huge amount of work. I really wish someone would fund this, because right now I don’t feel comfortable doing it for free.

I'm not sure this is even possible. I haven't found any minimal working examples of Off-Screen Rendering for KMP Desktop browsers. It seems that CEF/KCEF doesn't expose onPaint() method.

It’s possible on windows, but it’s a bit of a hassle.
I imagine that on macOS and Linux, it’s possible as well.
It would mainly require no longer using Wry, but instead manually managing the shared interface and handling output synchronization. Given the difficulty of the task, I don’t feel able to do it for free at the moment, but if there’s a sponsor, I’d be happy to do it.
