Update Boost

We should update Boost to a more recent version (>= 1.76) so we can use more recent versions of Meson. Boost 1.88 seems to be working just fine.

That'd could break builds on some Linux distros. Arch for a fact distributes element. not sure about any others.

Why does meson depend on boost?

Eventually I'm going to redo the build (again) with CMake.

I don't know why. I'm not familiar with Meson. What I noticed was that while running meson setup it asked for boost >= 1.76. The build is configured for Boost 1.71. I am running Meson 1.80.

It does seem a bit odd. I'll investigate.

Answer: meson doesn't depend on boost. It was a trick question. :)

But you can specify the boost version by doing this.

BOOST_ROOT="/path/to/boost/folder/or/include/path" meson setup ${options} ${builddir}

Hey thanks. Now you know. meson orchestrates the build. It checks boost availability and sets up paths and whatnot. Very soon I need to jump ship to CMake: I found out recently that build system is tightly integrated within JUCE itself.
