support for esbuild?

Rails moved to esbuild as default which compiles much faster than babel. I would like to take benefit but it doesn't support pug in general and in jsx. Any plans to provide support for new standardized toolchains? This repo hasn't had much activity for three years, so not sure if moving away from react-pug (which is really a fantastic language) is the safe option (like coffee).
