Enabling Topology via Kubernetes API (No Helm)

Hi team, I want to manage multiple Skupper topologies. Currently, I understand that topology management is handled via the Network Observer.

Do we have a solution to enable topology for sites without using Helm charts? I am specifically looking for a way to do this directly via the Kubernetes API.

I do not understand what you are looking for here, could you elaborate?

If all you want is a topology information, the same information that drives most of the network-observer's network topolgoy view is contained in the Site resource status under .status.network.

I would object to the statement that "toplogy management is handled via the Network Observer" - the network observer is just a spectator that certainly doesn't aid in any management tasks. If you are looking for tools to help you manage multiple virtual application networks (VANs) we don't have much to show you today, but that is a topic we are actively exploring.

EDIT: If what you want is the network observer but for whatever reason cannot use Helm, we do publish manifest yamls with each release in a few different flavours https://github.com/skupperproject/skupper/tree/main/charts/network-observer#non-helm-usage-with-preconfigured-manifest-yaml

Thanks for the clarification @dhqanh-rcc.

Afraid for now we probably do not have many options for you outside the network observer application. Depending on what you mean by collecting "topology" that information is already resident on each Site, albeit in a json format that is not particularly visual.

We would welcome suggestions on what sort of signals you are interested in monitoring - that is a topic we have been meaning to spend time on.
