Improve file compare

Hello,

Are there any plans to improve file diff/compare functionality like using an embedded editor?
In the meantime, will it be possible to show a modal window saying that the external diff software is being opened to avoid clicking on the "Open in Merge Tool" icon?
Also, very often the generated files for diff programs are not deleted completely and I need to delete them manually. Anybody experience the same behaviour?

What do you mean by "embeded editor"? This is the built-in diff view:

I do not think this is a good idea.

What files? I'm using vscode as the external merge/diff tool. And it does not generate other files.
