I see in the file format doc that vx has "Backwards compatibility, and (coming soon) forwards compatibility." So maybe this is not a consideration and we can simply upgrade Pco to 1.x.y once it's out? |

Right now it’s fine to just upgrade as long as things are backwards compatible |

Hey Pco has some improvements coming in upcoming v1.0.0, along with a small change to the format. Pco versions will of course always be able to read files from earlier versions. To keep the other direction short,
<=0.4.8 are unable to read files produced by v1.0.0
0.4.9 is able to read files produced by v1.0.0, excluding opt-in features
(1.0.0 will of course be able to read everything it produces)
I expect it's uncontroversial that we should bump Vortex's Pco version to 0.4.9. How does Vortex roll out new features to the format, if we want to upgrade to Pco v1 later?
