Summary

There are two main items in this PR:

  1. A new About section has been added to the website. This section contains the existing Teams page, and adds a new page with information about the Solus as an organization. This is intended to replace the section currently in the Help Center. The page makes heavy use of a new section shortcode that is more flexible than the previous feature shortcode. A good amount of inspiration for this was found from the recent BuddiesOfBudgie site work.
  2. The index page received some not-insignificant design tweaks that take advantage of the new section shortcode mentioned above. In summary:
    • The laptop hero section has been reworked, splitting the laptop frame from the screen image. This enables us to more easily update the image in the future, say, when we change the default wallpaper in a new Solus release.
    • A section has been added with bulletpoints to highlight the major features of Solus.
    • The text sections have been reworked to use the new section shortcode, and the previous images have all been replaced with application screenshots of applications running on Solus.
    • A call to action has been added to the bottom of the page for funding support.

With the additional calls to actions for donations on the main page and the About/Organization page, we may wish to remove the link in the navbar, if we want to reduce the number of links.

Grey is a bit boring isn't it? But the color palette we chose (Solus logo) seems limited.

I'm not sure we want something flashy as a background; we don't want it to distract from the text. That's why I think using colored accents is a better idea. That said, a friend of mine recommended to play with gradients and Glassmorphism, so I'll be doing that today.

No, I don't want that either. We use Light Blue, Grey, and Slate all over the site. I was just thinking that can we get away with adding another color? Something that "pop" a bit.

On another note: I built this website locally, try using Firefox mobile view and the hamburger menu seems broken. I can click the hamburger menu but it doesn't list anything.

Designer friend and I came up with this:

Adds some pizazz without being too distracting. Really liking how this turned out.

I fixed this earlier in this PR, how did I manage to break it again...

Now it works again. I didn't even do anything. Oook then.

This will make it easier in the future to replace the image, because
we'll just need the screen at the correct dimensions, and we don't have
to edit the previous image to put it into the laptop frame.

Duh, helps if the sidebar is actually added to the page.
