Description

Add Standard Korean Dictionary MCP server that integrates with the Korean dictionary API (국립국어원 표준국어대사전) for Korean language lookups

Server Details

  • Server: stdict (new)

Motivation and Context

This helps LLMs work more effectively with Korean language content by providing access to an authoritative Korean language resource.

How Has This Been Tested?

  • Tested with Claude Desktop client
  • Verified search functionality with various Korean words
  • Tested advanced search parameters including part of speech, etymology type
  • Verified detailed view functionality with both word_info and target_code methods

Breaking Changes

None. This is a new server that users can optionally add to their configurations.

Types of changes

  • New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)
  • Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to change)
  • Documentation update

Additional context

  • The server requires a Standard Korean Dictionary API key which users need to obtain from the National Institute of Korean Language
  • API documentation can be found at https://stdict.korean.go.kr/openapi/openApiInfo.do
  • All search parameters from the original API are supported
  • Attribution requirements for dictionary content are included in the README
